“Art
Meets Fashion” at Hello Galena Event
With a Walk-In Scent Workshop
The Ladies
Getaway Weekend is a great time for women to come together and
refresh themselves in Galena. And Hello Galena, a local artist
co-op, is helping women make their weekend extra memorable.
The shop, located at 121 N. Commerce St, will hold tents with
home and fashion displays on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5 and
6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., during its “Art Meets Fashion” event.
In addition
to new custom home and beauty displays, Hello Galena will have
artists on duty to answer art and decorating questions.
For the
ladies who want to try their hand at creating a personal fragrance,
local bath and body lotion creator, Arlene Ehtessabian, will
feature a walk-in workshop from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will
be over 35 scents to choose from, in order for women to create
the scent that’s right for them. There is a fee for making a
personalized body splash.
Saturday’s
Hello Galena event will feature local basket and gourd artist,
Toni Klingler, who will demonstrate
her art of basket-weaving. She will be on site from 10 a.m.
to noon. Women can see first-hand how these artistic baskets
are created, and commissioned projects are available as well.
At 1 p.m.,
local mystery author, Sandra Principe, will hold a book signing
at the shop. She has three books for sale at Hello Galena: “Murder
at Galena Stables,” “Murder in Galena,” and “Murder on the Mississippi.”
Women can stop in a purchase a signed copy and have a personal
message written to them or a friend in the book.
Sunday draws
the Ladies Getaway Weekend to a close with a drawing for a one-of-a-kind
jewelry set made by Kimberley Poe-Jensen, of Beaded Delights
on Hill. Her vintage-type necklace and earring set will be given
away through the drawing that all women may enter by stopping
in the shop.
The jewelry
is handmade and features Swarovski and Czech crystals, and retails
for more than $50. The winner will be announced on the Hello
Galena website on the following Friday, Sept. 12, and the jewelry
will be mailed to the winner.
