“Gallery Gift Baskets” Now Being Sold at Hello Galena!

With the economy in a tight place, it makes sense that people would want to buy a gift with great value. With this in mind, Hello Galena! manager Kimberley Poe-Jensen has created special gift baskets with local artists' artwork and fine crafts to sell.

"We’re calling them 'Gallery Gift Baskets' because they incorporate items one would find in our local galleries. In fact, all of the items in the baskets are locally made and the artists are all from Hello Galena Co-op," she said.

The gift baskets are each specially made with a theme in mind. For example, there is the "Galena History Lover" basket which features “Garders and Grit,” a hardcover book by Becky Sisco, "Galena Roots" CD, a sculptured magnet by Lois Mihok and a Jo Davies County history book. And it’s all packaged nicely in a hand-woven basket made by local weaver Sandy Michalik.

Then there are smaller baskets that feature purse-size lotions, jewelry, handmade pens, hand-blown glass items and fused glass items. Most of the “Gallery Gift Baskets” are combined in a hand-woven basket by a local basket-weaver. They are all labeled with different titles so that the buyer can pick just the right gift.

"We want this to be a way to promote local art. It’s also a wonderful way to keep the local economy moving in the right direction,” Poe-Jensen said. With this in mind, Poe-Jensen has made gift basket themes that appeal to a wide array of ages and genders.

There are several for men, such as the “Rustic Galena” basket, the “Outdoor Galena” basket and the "For My Guy From Galena” basket. "This should make it easy for women to find the perfect gift for the men in their lives. And you can be guaranteed that no one else will be giving them the same gift. It’s not something you can find at the local discount store," Poe-Jensen said.

Hello Galena’s "Gallery Gift Baskets" also appeal to women, such as "Galena Spa Day," "Girls Night Out" and "Galena Glam" baskets, which feature more feminine items. "And for those who really want a special gift for someone who admires flowers, there’s the 'Galena Flower Lover' basket, which even features a piece of stained glass artwork," Poe-Jensen said.

There are baskets for bakers, such as "From Galena’s Kitchen," and even a basket for children. This one is called "Toy Lover" and contains a handmade wooden toy by Russell Vestuto and has a local CD and children’s historic book. See a complete list with pricing.
