Holiday
Market to Take Place at the DeSoto House Hotel
Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
As
the holidays approach, and more people shop for just the right
gift, Halloween weekend in Galena presents a perfect time opportunity.
While getting ready to enjoy the city’s biggest parade of the
year, people can shop at the Holiday Market at the DeSoto House
Hotel. It is a free event, hosted by Hello Galena! Artist Co-Op.
This
year's Holiday Market will feature items in all price ranges,
perfect for gift buyers or people who are looking to decorate
their homes for the holidays. The sale will take place on Saturday,
Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., in order to allow people the
chance to shop and enjoy the parade as well.
Many
of the artists will feature new items especially created for
the Holiday Market. In addition, you may find custom handmade
cards, hand-woven baskets, one-of-a-kind jewelry, artists’ prints
and originals, wooden toys, handcrafted wooden and corncob pens
and much more.
For
example, Larry Cording, Galena wood-turner, offer a mix-and-match
pen sale, where shoppers can mix and match the different wooden
pen parts into a pen that will perfect for the gift recipient.
All
of the artists who will be hosting booths at the sale are local
and regional artists, many of whom exhibit at Hello Galena!,
the Galena Artist Guild, Brio Gallery and other local art galleries.
The
Holiday Market is a way to promote the local artists and to
raise funds for the operating costs involved with the Co-op
as Hello Galena! will be processing all the orders. Plus, Hello
Galena! will be selling its “Gallery Gift Baskets,” which feature
art from the Co-op
