Up For Thursday Night Art Classes
For those
who are interested in learning new skills and expressing their
creativity, Hello Galena Artist Co-op is offering “Thursday
Night Art.” Sign up is underway, and the first class begins
Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Pre-teens, teenagers
and adults are encouraged to attend. “Anyone who has an interest
in art is welcome,” said Kimberley Poe-Jensen, manager of Hello
Galena.
The first
class will be taught by painter and pressed flower artist, Mercedes
Govert. The class is titled “Holiday Card Club,” which is
meant to be a fun, relaxing time of creating personal, one-of-a-kind
cards.
Govert will
have all the supplies needed for each person to create 20 handmade
cards, along with envelopes. Cardstock and all the embellishments
will be provided, in order to make for a fun time of preparing
for the holidays. Govert will be on hand to answer questions
and to provide direction as well.
“What a
fun activity for a mother and daughter to do, or for some friends
to take time to hang out together every Thursday evening before
the busyness of the holidays sets in,” Poe-Jensen said.
The public
is encouraged to sign up early as space is limited, and to ensure
that there are enough supplies for each person.
“If you
only want to come for one night of card making, you can opt
to sign up for a walk-in session. But reservations need to be
phoned in by 4 p.m. on the day of the class,” Poe-Jensen said.

The “Holiday
Card Club” is scheduled to take place on Nov. 6, 13 and 20 at
Hello Galena, at 121 N. Commerce Street in Galena. The classes
will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost for the
“Holiday Card Club” is $35, which is less than $2 a card. The
walk-in rate is $12, and includes the materials to make seven
cards, for one night. To make reservations to attend the class,
