Students
on field trip from Dakota, IL, May 1
 |
 |
| Hello
Galena Manager and Jewelry Designer Kimberley Poe-Jensen,
teaches a class for a junior high field trip that came
to town from Dakota, IL. The 60 students could choose
from one of three classes provided that day: jewelry making,
cartoon drawing, or rock painting. |
Jack
Berg, cartoon artist and musician, shared with junior
high students how artists use their passion for art to
make money so they can do what they love. He talked about
how it's important to use art in a practical way sometimes,
so they can pay the bills. Then he shared about the difference
between caricatures and cartoons, and more. |

|
 |
|
| Jacquie
Dyrke, rock painter, showed the students how to take a
simple, smooth rock and transform it into a realistic
animal. She had rocks for every student. The rocks were
prepared by her with gesso to make the paint stick, and
had drawn lines on all of them so students could finish
them at home. |
