Hello Galena Hosts its Fourth Annual Market House Square Art Festival

For art lovers and people looking for something unique to decorate their homes, Hello Galena has something special in store. The Fourth Annual Market House Square Art Festival promises more artists, more booths and more variety than last year’s successful event. It will be held Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside on the lawn between the Market House Welcome Center and Hello Galena, a local artist co-op.

The Market House Art Festival is held at 121 N. Commerce Street, in downtown Galena. The Welcome Center has tourist information and will be open during festival hours; the Welcome Center website is: www.visitgalena.org.

The Art Festival will offer a wide variety of art and fine crafts, such as pottery, blown and fused glass, oil paintings, watercolor paintings, photography from around the area and the world, digital art, hand-woven baskets, sterling silver and gold jewelry, beaded, stitched and vintage jewelry, children’s items, such as hair bows, mittens, jewelry, lawn sculptures, décor and furniture, felted mittens, hand-painted rock animals, hand-carved wooden pens, bowls, and other items.

All items that are on display have been created by the artists themselves. And many of the artists will be exhibiting their skills at the art fair. In addition to art, there will be local musicians playing music. Leonardo, a well-known local artist, will be performing his beautiful Spanish/Latin music on the lawn both days. Scott Waterhouse, whose recent album is titled "A Spot in the Shade," will perform his guitar music as well.

Plus, author P.J. Hartenaus will sign copies of her book, Belden Boy from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday during the festival.
