Hello
Galena! Features NorthWest Designs Family of Glass Artists in
July
During
July, three-dimensional works of glass by the Groezinger family
are featured at Hello Galena!, an artist co-op. Beads, bracelets,
bottle stoppers, bookmarks and other decorative glass items
are part of their featured display in the shop at 121 N. Commerce
Street. All are creations of the Groezinger family trio: father,
mother and son. The youngest member of the group was the first
to show his interest and talent -- at age five.
The
public is invited to meet the family of artists from 2-5
p.m. on Sunday, July 11, and learn how in 2003 Drew got
them started in a family pastime that has grown into a thriving
business known as NorthWest Designs. When asked what they each
like most about making beads, Daryl says, "It's relaxing to
design and create." Drew, now 12, likes it as a way to focus
on the task at hand. Pennie adds, "It's a great opportunity
to share family time together." They share as they create and
as they travel on most weekends to exhibit and sell their jewelry
at juried events. See photos and more details on their full
feature page.
In
addition to finding the Groezinger's work in the Hello Galena!
shop and at various juried art shows, visitors are invited to
their studio in the beautiful rolling hills of Jo Daviess County
just three miles south of Hwy 20 outside of Stockton.
