Galena! Features Galena Art
It’s
time to Celebrate Galena. During April, Hello Galena!, a regional
a rtist
co-op, is featuring artists whose works spotlight the town.
Depictions of Galena in a variety of media -- books, music,
pottery, paintings, photographs, and graphic panoramas -- are
on display in the shop at 121 N. Commerce Street in Galena.
Artists will meet and greet the public on selected Saturday
afternoons from 1-4 p.m. throughout the month.
On
April 2, local author Diann Marsh will sign her recent book,
“Galena, Illinois: A Brief History.” Marsh is a retired Historic
Preservation Consultant and author of numerous historical publications
for historical societies and the general public. She is a founder
of the Galena Cultural Arts Alliance, was president of the Galena
Artists Guild, and is a member of the Spirits of the Galena/Jo
Daviess County Historical Society.
On
April 16, two local authors, Becky Sisco
and Leone Castell Anderson, will be available for book signings.
Sisco will sign her latest publication titled “Garters and
Grits,” a book full of intriguing questions and unexpected answers
about Galena and Jo Daviess County. Anderson, an award-winning
author of children’s works, will share her insights about Galena
included in the second book in her historical novel series,
“Sean’s Quest.”
On
April 23, local author, Sandra Principe will sign books
from her Karen Prince Mystery Series. Each of the five novels
is set in Galena and includes references to the surrounding
area. Even some characters might be recognizable.
Hello Galena!
is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3)
organization made up of more than 65 local artists. Their artwork
and signature gift items are displayed at 121 N. Commerce Street,
Galena, Ill. Artists staff the art-only shop. Check out our
