Hello Galena! Features Artists Lorlee Servin, Jim and Janet Post

Lorlee Servin photographyStop by Hello Galena! to see photography, explore literary works, and hear music created by the featured local artists Lorlee Servin, Jim Post and Janet Smith Post.

Servin is a photographer, painter and illustrator, who spent a lot of her childhood drawing for and taking photos of her family. Now, she has a bachelor's degree in art. Servin's innate and cultivated "good eye for art" enables her to find the beauty in "…what God has given us in Nature. I am amazed at the patterns and details in flowers. That's why I do a lot of floral close ups." Her photography was selected to adorn the new Stonehill Wellness & Therapy Center in Dubuque.

Jim PostJim Post began singing for his family when he was three and a half years old. "A chair was my stage," remembers Post. As his confidence and stage presence grew, his talents opened up vast possibilities, including a visit to the White House; opening for Cream, a power trio with Eric Clapton; and, a spot on Coast to Coast radio. Post continues to entertain and starts his sixth season as Mark Twain at 111 North Main Street in Galena. The master storyteller shares his fascinating anecdotes in a book soon to be published. The list of all Post's accomplishments is found on his website at www.JimPost.com.

Cotton Rock by Janet Smith PostJanet Smith Post is a natural writer. Her first story was written at age 10, but no one saw it. Encouragement came from a high school English teacher. "Her 'You are a writer!' comment on my first creative writing assignment, gave wings to my belief that I really could write," shares Smith Post. She has been writing ever since and has a variety of published work, including the books Cotton Rock and Barnyard Boogie. One of her songs won the John Lennon Song Contest for children's music and another was played on Good Morning America. Smith Post shares stories and writing tips on her website at www.JanetSmithPost.com.
